Motor revved; ready to fly

Thelma and Louise Point on Shafer Trail, Utah

OK, here's the story. I'm a desperate fugitive on the run in a souped-up Subaru station wagon with a whale-shaped
spoiler on the roof. I'm wanted for several crimes. The state police have me surrounded; there is no escape. My car
is pointed toward the precipice, my engine is revving up, and my foot is getting anxious. What do I do?

In the movie "Thelma and Louise" the two main characters found themselves in such a situation at this very spot.
I can still picture the final scene, with Harvey Keitel and a zillion state police sweating over what to do about
those two women. Thelma and Louise, sitting in their convertible, decided that giving up was not an option. The
driver gunned the engine and they sailed over the precipice into oblivion. End of movie.

I decided not to emulate their action.

John, you might be disappointed, as I was after watching the movie following this trip. The Utah scenery only exists in the last quarter of the movie. Camera angles minimize the scenery and maximize the characters and action (police chasing fugitives). It was probably fun to shoot the movie in Utah, but the way the scenes were shot and the way the movie was edited, the grandeur of the landscape was omitted. What a shame.
