I encountered this sign at the north end of Murphy Road, a washboard dirt road in eastern Maricopa. Why bother exploring a washboard dirt road? Why not?

The reason for this madness disguised as exploration is that Murphy Road runs parallel to the western boundary of Volkswagen's Arizona proving grounds and I wanted to see what was at the northern end of that boundary. I guess you could say it was "borderline madness." I had to drive about five miles per hour (8 km per hour) to minimize vibration.

All the land behind the sign is reservation land and unauthorized persons are to keep out. I crossed the border on foot for a photograph and escaped unharmed. Don't tell anyone.
