Looking east along the northern border of Volkswagen's proving ground at Maricopa, Arizona. The dirt road at bottom is Murphy Road. It terminates about 300 feet (91 m) to the left, where it encounters the southern boundary of the Gila River Indian Reservation. (The route continues northward as a reservation road.)
The small hills in the distance are the location of the Gila River War Relocation Center, one of the Japanese-American internment camps of World War 2. The hills are, and the center was, completely within the Gila River Indian Reservation.
The small solar-powered installation at the corner of the hedge includes security cameras.
