Looking southwest from a bench below Dead Horse Point. The bench continues counterclockwise to the bushes in the right half of the scene. My goal was to reach the far side of the foreground ridge, but the boulders presented a problem. Having inspected this terrain from Dead Horse Point, I was fairly certain that there was a way through, involving some scrambling. It turned out, going through the boulders was easier than I had anticipated---there were only two minor difficulties. My route stayed close to the level of this bench, avoiding the upper bouldery slope.
Everything beyond the reddish foreground ridge is in Canyonlands National Park.
