A former T.I.P. trailer sits in the middle of a field south of Red Bluff, California. I happened to see it only because we were stopped on the freeway. The trailer is at the center of this Wikimapia aerial view.
Our rapid northbound progress had been rudely interrupted by an accident that backed up traffic for at least two miles. A tractor-trailer burned and the State Patrol had initially blocked all northbound lanes until the wreckage could be cleared from the road. Then two lanes of traffic were slowly funneled through the site of the accident: we endured stop-and-creep driving for two hours.
