Shortly after leaving the site of my self-portrait by a boulder I had this view of the valley I intended to explore. My route on the streambed went leftward. There are several puddles of water visible, probably the result of here-and-there water flow.

The vertical distance down to the streambed is about 30 feet (9 m).
