Bland but meaningful

view map

Huh? This scene, photographed at the intersection of Honeycutt Road and Murphy Road is pretty bland unless one knows what lies on the far side of the hedge. The mystery is partially revealed in an aerial view. Beyond the hedge, which is about ten feet (3 m) tall, is the huge proving ground of Volkswagen of America.

One goal I had when reaching Maricopa was riding my trike to the site just to be able to say I had been there. Of course I could not see anything of the facility because the entire layout, except for the entrance driveway, is surrounded by hedges or walls.

Photographed as I sat on my recumbent trike.

If this is where VW commit their criminal offences a 10 foot hedge is the minimum height it should be. Maybe 20 foot would have been better.
And considering the design faults of my VW van they don't do enough testing.
Time to get a drone Dave.
