Lately I have been watching episodes of "Medical Mysteries" and "The New Detectives" on YouTube. The stories, which describe the role and value of forensic science, are fascinating.
This activity takes me away from posting of photos on Flickr.
Many "New Detectives" episodes begin with the announcement above. Seeing this the first time caused me great disappointment because I had always thought that everything in the episodes was a depiction of the actual scenes as they took place, involving the actual police, medical examiners, crime scene investigators, and dead bodies. Don’t the episode production crews stand by at police headquarters (24 hours a day!), waiting to accompany detectives to the scene of a crime? This is the age of reality television and the narrators sound so honest and sincere! I feel cheated.
In spite of this let-down I continue to watch the episodes. But now I do so with a jaundiced opinion of the programs.
