Arch Boy is properly dressed for Bow Tie Arch

view map

This was the high point of my May 2014 trip to Moab because it was the fulfillment of the #1 goal of the trip: to photograph myself above Bow Tie Arch while wearing a bow tie. Another accomplishment was getting above Pinto Arch.

It was a beautiful day, but a bit warm for my taste (low 90s?). The wind was so bad that in a couple of places I had to stay back from a precipice farther than I normally do because of my fear of being blown over the edge. Here the wind was strong enough to mess up my hair but not enough to instill fear. At the end of this 11-mile (mostly cross-country) hike I was very tired.

On my first visit to this spot I was not so fashion-conscious.

You need a pair of those Sheriff Buford T. Justice silvered sun glasses! They would go with your tie and SEG.

Even a strong wind couldn't wipe that grin of accomplishment away, Congrats, Arch Boy, way to tie one on.

John and Tom---thanks.
Tom---a comb would have been worthless in the wind.

That is Style, with a capital S.

Congrats on making the trip but next time be sure to pack a comb ...
