Support structure for the wing panel

For two years the custom floor did not cover an area I call “the wing.” This is the space between the main plywood floor panel and the passenger-side sliding door; it is about nine inches (23 cm) wide and 36 inches (91 cm) long.. This was not a problem for daily use, but during road trips I considered the area wasted space.

After some head-scratching about the way to support a wing panel I decided on the design shown in the photo. The 2x6 board (“Pass.”) supports the outside edge of a main plywood floor panel. Next to it is a 2x3 board that supports the inside edge of the wing panel. The three posts on the running board support the outer edge of the wing panel. The posts are moved sideways on the sloping running board until the pressure fit is just right. It's easy to remove them to gain access to storage spaces under the floor.

A note about the 2x3: it is not screwed to the anchor assembly because that configuration would have forced me to re-build the anchor assembly (way too much work!). Instead, it is connected to the 2x6 by pieces of plywood that are screwed to their undersides. Thus the two boards act as one.
