This photo was taken in 2004. When I visited in 2008, the visitors' center had been
moved to a lower position, from which the bottom of the pit was not easily seen.
In October 2008, the entrance fee for cars was $5---money well spent. Open daily
from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., April 1 through October 31, weather permitting.
