Subic Bay - Part III

Fatbirder's Top 1000 Birding Websites

Once more, I find myself at Subic Bay during the last weekend, testing new equipment in the field - this time my Manfrotto 468RC4 ball head. I finally got the endemic Philippine Serpent-Eagle, both perched and in flight. A male Tarictic Hornbill, plus a lot of pics of Subic regulars, served as icing to the cake. The sunlight was glorious at Subic this weekened, as can be seen in the bird pics in this gallery.

The Manfrotto 468RC4 replaced my old Slik Pro 800 ball head. It performed flawlessly in the field.
Together with my 455B legs, the combo provided the stable support for the 20D + 400 5.6L + Tamron 1.4x TC
in taking the pics of the perched Crested Serpent-Eagle and Tarictic Hornbill in this gallery.
These shots were taken at a distance of over 60 meters. The controls of the 468RC4 are located conveniently,
and functioned smoothly. It's huge capacity of 16 kg is a quantum leap compared to the Slik Pro 800's 3 kg.
