Munias in my backyard

I was busy processing some HD video at home a few minutes ago, minding my own business and not bothering any other creature in this good earth (except the mouse I was clicking).
Then this mixed flock of munias (scaly-breasted and chestnut) just invaded the vacant lot beside our house, feasting on the grains of the overgrown grasses.
They just wouldn't leave me alone in peace to do my work..... they loudly called non-stop and congregated within inches from the wall separating my yard from the vacant lot.

So what does a nature filmmaker wannabe ought to do in the face of such assault and temptation? I couldn't concentrate at all in my video editing,
always getting lost in my time line, effects and transitions. I decided to face the issue squarely. I grabbed my seldom-used 40D + 100-400 IS,
duck-walked along the concrete wall that hid me from the invaders, then slowly stood up to peer over the wall. There, not more than 7-8 feet away,
is a prime target in excellent overcast light, heartily calling after a good meal of grass seeds. I focused carefully, allowed a couple of seconds for the IS
to settle down, then fired a burst from the handheld 40D + 100-400 IS. At least one of the burst got the critter just the way I like it.
