Portrait of a Buff-banded Rail

Fatbirder's Top 1000 Birding Websites

Not too many birds yesterday at Candaba wetlands. The flooding has receded a bit, and this left many higher spots of the wetlands dry and available as perching and foraging areas.
The birds that congregated along the road when the flood was at its deepest must have dispersed all over the wetlands. A few migrants have arrived but not in their expected numbers yet.
I got close to a Buff-banded Rail (endemic philippensis subspecies) and a Paddyfield Pipit, and that somehow saved the trip.
