Hi Tina, it was perched about 25 feet above the ground, but I had to back off quite a bit for a cleaner line of fire and shallower shooting angle. I think if it perches on a cleaner spot, a 400 5.6L + 1.4x TC would do the job. Make sure you have a tripod and remote switch (use the timer if you have no RS). If you notice the exposure values I used (1/13 sec, f/13, ISO 400, 1120 mm), the bird prefers to stay in a dark place and you need to enable MLU to get a decent capture. Romy
Thanks for posting these photos of the Nightjar in U.P. It must have been way up in the tree kasi you were using your MooOoonNsStTeERrrr lens plus a TC pa. Do you think our measly 400mm will be able to capture this bird clearly ?
