Habitat - Fairly common in lowland forest understory, perches motionless in dark recesses.

This caught my attention because of the feather detail and the light in its eye. A lovely shot. Earns my vote.

This is a shy, rarely photographed endemic kingfisher. When I chanced upon it at Mt. Makiling, a lucky shaft of light pierced the forest canopy and illuminated the bird's nicely colored head, while it was perched in the dark undergrowth. Fill flash from the DG Super helped bring out the underpart colors.
