Purple Swamphen at Candaba

At last, I came to meet the Purple Swamphen "in bird," but it was so far away (about a hundred meters) and light was so poor due to overcast skies that all I managed are documentary pics. This makes it my 188th lifer.

While I did poorly at the lifer, I got close to a beautiful White-Browed Crake and the Sigmonster came out with some of its most detailed bird pics ever. The Sigma beast also captured a Pied Harrier in flight, as the raptor harasses some ducks in the big pond.

IMG_8758.jpg The sun sets in the west, and the last shreds of golden light is taken away from me. I pack my long lenses, snap on the Sigma 10-20 and try to record in pixels the sweet scene of the wetlands retiring into the night.

No, that's a adult female Pied Harrier alright.

Hi Romy, the 2 sets of 3 waders are common or pintail snipe & Goldern Plover, the harrier I am fairly certain is a male Eastern Marsh not a Pied. Regards James
