Handholding the 500 f4 L IS at Candaba Fliers

After a week of being sidelined with flu (fortunately not bird flu, although I'm permanently afflicted with bird fever), I managed to get out today to try my new 500 f4 L IS at fliers. What better place to go than my favorite wetlands?

I intend to shoot the 500 f4 L IS 100% hand held at fliers, perchers or waders. If I need to set up a tripod, the Sigmonster would be the weapon of choice because of the reach and zooming flexibility. Here are some of my first attempts in hand holding the Canon prime at flying birds.

Your fliers are getting better and better. And this is the clearest shot of the Pheasant-tailed Jacana that we hope will increase in number as one of the attractions of the Reserve.
