Not too many birds in this sortie, but I got some shots of a hunting Chinese Pond-Heron and an Eastern Marsh-Harrier perched near the ground.
Also saw the Great Cormorant in flight, confirming its continued presence in the wetlands even after the noisy New Year.

EGRETSCAPE. When the sun went below the horizon, most egrets have gone back to their roosting trees to spend the night. But not this mixed egret flock... looks like this group of white birds decided to stay on a ricefield till the next morning. [40D + 100-400 IS, hand held, resized full frame]
