17th October 2006 - crossing the line

I am always amused by this sign.

I’m wondering what line we passengers mustn’t cross. Could it be the Maginot Line? Or the Venus Line? Or the line between lust and love?

Whatever line it is, the powers that be really don’t want us to cross it unless we use the footbridge. Does the Maginot Line have a footbridge? What about the equator – is that a line we shouldn’t cross? I wonder if there is a footbridge over that line?

As you might be able to tell, I am a bit stir-crazy – I’m on a trip to ‘the smoke’, stressed with work and home-life (NOOOOOOOO, not with DM, dogs or any other thing than dust and disruption) and I’m covering up rising panic and deep fear with stupid observations about a railway sign.

Frankly, I’d certainly recommend crossing at least one of the above lines and it’s certainly not one you’d need a footbridge for – at least not in my narrow-ish view of the world.

Today I have crossed several bridges – viaducts, the Tamar bridge and a whole host of others too boring to mention. I’m in town and rueing my latest bout of separation from DM and those critters that I love so much. I’ve read a book while on the train and in my hotel room and found so many parallels with my own existence it has made me cry so this silliness is also an antidote to separation sadness. The book is Carol Drinkwater’s ‘The Olive Farm’. I paid ten pee for it (about twenty cents) at the Meadow Fair in the summer – a village tradition where people spend an afternoon in the sunshine with trestle tables selling their unwanted stuff so they can put the money to new use. I bought five books and this one was certainly a bargain. I got the privilege of sobbing on the train in front of bemused passengers all thrown in with the parting of the princely sum of ten pee! I’m now extremely glad I invested another ten pee on its sequel!
Perhaps this posting proves I've crossed the sanity line?

It’s taken me over a day to get round to posting this because frankly I’m too tight to pay the exorbitant fees for wi-fi internet access in hotels when I can get away with not doing – so I decided I’d manage without for a day then get online later in the trip – so here I am!

PS - I have had a few contacts from guests today - I promise to respond when I have access to proper email!

Blind furry burrowers were causing me grief last year.

Linda leaves home, stands on a platform and thinks 'I have a crummy hotel waiting and darkness, can I make something of what's here on the station before my train leaves?' Yep - this is the result....just so you know that my course hasn't wiped my fundamental ability to post crap! full exif

I was quite amused by the silhoutte man's pose ... looks slightly camp, slightly 'egyption dance' :-)

I think it's the equator. Otherwise Neptune's mob will get you.

Nice one, the line between lust and love get's blurred at times.
But the line this refers too is the one you must walk when you are peed.

lines are meant to be crossed. (well a little bit, sometimes)
