There are parts of the UK that are completely infested with flies at the moment. I saw something on the news the other day about a man who’d been hanging flypapers in his kitchen and catching 4,000 flies a day.
We’re by no means at that point here but we do seem to have lots and lots of the little nasties. We’ve tried those window stickers, which work but look horrid so, while we were at Heligan I spotted these pitcher plants so I bought one.
It’s been fantastic. Now, if we get a couple of flies in, they’re gone in a couple of hours! They get attracted to the plant, seem to almost get mesmerised in and then fall down into the ‘pitchers’. You can actually hear them die!!!!
I’ve been planning to photograph it since I bought it and as we’ve done nothing at all today except to pop out for dog food, I decided that ‘today’s the day’!
Just so my cack-ness is reported again.....I set fire to our kitchen today!
Tonight, my birthday is going to be celebrated with ‘leftover supper’ – the remains of last night’s ‘posh’ dinner with Iain and Becks!
Last year, the Lilywhites started better than they've done this year!
