Siblyback lake in the early evening. Sunshine and storm clouds, although the storm clouds came to nothing!

We’ve walked the perimeter of the lake this evening with the dogs and very pleasant it was too other than the ‘false start’ because we didn’t realise you have to pay to park there and neither of us had any cash on us at all! Even the ‘emergency’ supply in the car was completely empty. So, we had a quick dash home to collect cash and then back with the dogs thinking we were completely batty!

It took an hour and a half and we worked up quite an appetite so I’m looking forward to the quesadillas that are, as I type, cooking off in the oven!

I’m quite excited today because we’ve got visitors coming at the weekend who I’ve not seen for several years but they contacted us to say they’re here to celebrate a ‘special’ birthday and wondered if we’d got any time when we could see them. Supper was duly arranged, along with transport arrangements so no-one has to be ‘billy no-mates’ with a glass of water while the rest of us celebrate that ‘special’ birthday. (I’ve promised not to mention the actual number of golden years!)

The only ‘fly in the ointment’ is that they’re staying at the hotel owned by a man I had a falling out with the year before last over his complete failure to provide properly for vegetarians in his restaurant. He just did not see why it wasn’t OK to serve the veggies a plate of the vegetable side-dishes that were being served to his other guests and ended up sending me a horribly patronising email which he asked me to publish and in my view it supported my case entirely. Ah well, Janet and John are not veggie so I expect they’ll be fine!

So, I’ve been planning today – menus and stuff for the weekend. I love this!
