25th June 2006 - unexpected

OK – first a report on last night’s inaugural Cornish Beer festival. You know we were on five bottles when I reported last night – well guess where it ended? Yep – you got it, six! We were all drunk on fresh air and exercise so when I was alone on the sofa (alone in as much as I was the only one AWAKE at 11pm) the whole event fell apart rapidly. We are now officially lightweights nos 1,2 and 3. Paul – you’d have been ashamed of our lack of verve!

We all trooped off to bed and the next thing I knew was that it was 9.30am. DM and I decided we’d got to get up pretty sharpish as we knew that otherwise the day would drift by in a blur of ambling about clad in dressing gowns, eating toast and drinking coffee. Colin’s inclusion in the mix is always fatal because, well, not to put too fine a point on it, he’s completely pants at getting moving in the morning.

DM forced his hand in as much as he took him up a cup of very strong coffee and we waited for his appearance. He eventually shuffled into the kitchen at around ten to eleven and declared his intention to go to ‘the shower block’. (Yep, we’re still going over the road for a shower.)

About ten minutes later, we got a call from Iain and Becks asking us if we fancied a coffee at the tea shop up the road. We agreed readily but I warned that Colin was in the shower so it could take some time…..about half an hour later, we had to ring I&B and tell them Colin still hadn’t emerged from the shower. In fact, I reckon that at 45 minutes, this was the longest shower known to man. I think our Rainham boy was lapping up the lack of water restrictions here!

Anyway, eventually we got out and the ‘coffee’ turned to ‘lunch’ because it was time for lunch by then!!!!!

So here is one of our unexpected but very welcome lunch companions having lunch.

Weirdly, or perhaps not, last year's shot was of us all on top of the Cheesewring. What creatures of habit we are.
