19th January 2006 - naughty but nice....

Everything in this pic is naughty but nice.

Rosie is naughty all the time yet she’s the sweetest, nicest little girl you could ever imagine. I swear that there is no nicer experience than DM shouting ‘incoming’ when he opens the bedroom door and in a split second four paws land on your chest and a hairy snout is pushed in your face.

DM’s hand? Well, need I say more?

Guitars – well, rock and roll is the naughtiest thing in the world isn’t it?

What’s strange is that I regard myself as a bit of a language obsessive and I had NO IDEA that nice once meant foolish and then it meant wanton!!! I like the idea of wanton (you know, as in 'bridget jones, wanton sex goddess with a bad man between her thighs' much more than foolish.

Where have I got this nonsense? From ‘Balderdash and Piffle’ a fabulous programme about the English language that the very wonderful Beeb have made. I don’t care what my Daddy says (he IS my Daddy after all) but I still think the BBC is the greatest British Institution there is.

We finally got around to seeing a ‘Balderdash and Piffle’ this week because we now have this fab gadget called a Sky Plus box, which means we were able to record B&P while we were reliving our yoof and watching ‘Life on Mars’ – an excuse by a 2006 producer to make a completely un-PC (not police constable, politically correct) Sweeney like cop show, with jokes about tits, chain smoking and dirty cops.

I love B&P – it’s such a great programme. DM says some of the things they’re discussing should be consigned to the realms of the ‘deeply dippy’ but I love the fact that supposedly ‘BYTs’ (bright young things) of today have NO idea what gaffes they are making….

Now take my company’s BYT – he stood up in front of a client and spent an hour talking about renumeration……I rest my case!!!

Last year I was doing the second of my 'songs that changed my life' and I was delighted by a guest who was someone I've never heard from before or since quoting me poetry. I love that about pbase and thanks Rick - you made my day.

Nice b/w, Linda. What a sweetie Rosie is... Cathi knows a BYT at her work that used to talk about the "Sixteen Chapel" in Italy... too funny!

Ahh - we discovered Sky+ about a year ago, a wonderful invention! Only problem is we've got so behind on our viewing that I've had to "modify" it to store more programmes!

Balderdash and Piffle has been fascinating!

Lovely photo by the way, love the B+W tones.

Rosie, you're looking gorgeous as ever - ask you Mummy to give you a hug from me! And as for your BYT - I wonder who could you be talking about!!!!

Glad you caught up with B & P this week, Linda. Last week's featured the word or words "management speak".......aaaggggghhhh!
