We’re sitting here waiting for two huge crates of our belongings to arrive from the removals company. I’m scared! After a gargantuan effort to get this house ‘straight’ we’re about to fill it with boxes of stuff that we’ve got no home for.
I have a suspicion that later today we may regret requesting it from storage when we can’t walk across the room without climbing over things. I so wish we’d had more time to sort ourselves out and bring here what we really needed so all of the rest could be done without for the time being but hindsight is such a wonderful thing.
One of my jobs over the last few days has been disguising the two places in our bedroom where we’ve got bad plastering – one where the electrician cut the channel to take the main wiring up into our loft space and the other where I took out a wardrobe after we’d had the new plastering done – again, hindsight tells me I should have done it before, but I didn’t even think about it until it was too late.
I’m pretty pleased with both jobs – I patched the plaster myself and it was a reasonably good job but it’s almost impossible to completely disguise these sorts of things. So, one of the two channels now has a curtain in front of it and you’d never even know it was there. The other has become this….
It's my OTT boudoir look and it's made from a mixture of cheap voile curtains and christmas decorations - I knew that sooner or later, I'd have a use for something from the 'festival of spoiled brats'.
Last year, I was still crusading about the treatment of vegetarians by our restaurants and coincidentally the year before I was explaining why I am veggie!
