This is the M3 going west as the sun sets on a day when my three colleagues and I worked for sixteen hours-a-piece. A 4.30am start, a 1000 mile round trip, a six hour long meeting then a four hour wait at Amsterdam Airport for some unknown reason preceded this leg of the epic journey.
When we came back to Britain, the weather was completely foul – driving rain and thick clouds engulfed Gatwick Airport as we came down through the cloud to see water everywhere.
There isn’t much nicer though, rain or no rain, than the sight of the fields of Sussex, stretching out beneath us and the green of our beautiful countryside making me feel as welcome as a welcome person.
I’m home, for a few hours at least and I’m back with the people and things I love.
I’m also numb, shattered and struggling to string a set of coherent thoughts together.
