15th May 2005 - not enough

This photo is of a semi-controversial moment in Spurs somewhat indifferent performance against Blackburn today. Andy Reid got tackled – probably just outside the box in reality and you can see his tackler protesting it was outside the box while Andy asserts it was over the line. As with all these things where you don’t get any replays in the stadium, it’s hard to tell.

Anyway, a single goal would not have made any difference – Middlesborough got a point from their game and that was all that was needed to secure their spot. It’s good to see that our ‘robbed’ two points from the Man Utd cheating debacle in the end made no difference – the two points would have got us an extra place up the table but wouldn’t have been enough to secure the last European slot.

Still, it was a good afternoon and the players seemed really happy for the support. I'll be posting my B&H gallery later!

There was a rumour a few weeks ago that we may get in on the coat tails of our small number of bookings as the ‘fair play’ champs – I suppose that’d be a good thing for us but I’d still have preferred to get us there through playing well.

Mind you, like I said – I would be happy with a top half finish and that’s what we got so I’m happy.

The third player in the shot is one Robbie Savage – ex of Leicester and Birmingham. This man will forever be a demon in the eyes of all Spurs fans for his cheating dive in the League Cup Final in 1999, which led to the sending off of Justin Edinburgh. He may have thought that dive would give his team glory but we snatched a last minute goal (Nielsen) and won the match.

I was at the game that afternoon so I feel a great deal of animosity towards Savage. I really can’t abide cheats.

Strangely it was the first and only time I have ever received hospitality from a client – us agency folks only ever get to give the hospitality to clients – not the other way around.

My client owned a sportswear division (Sondico) and our reserve goalie of the day wore Sondico gloves so I got a pair of tickets from him – how cool was that? We got a four course lunch at the Hilton in Wembley, followed by the game then high tea afterwards back at the Hilton. I must say, it was one of those days that you dream about and mostly they don’t happen to people like me. On this occasion, Cinderella went to the ball and had a fantastic day out.

Last year, I was cheering on Cyprus (where I was born) in the Eurovision Song Contest and two years ago, Archie was making us laugh

The only thing that's missing from this photo are the handbags! :-)

Not enough, just like Liverpool. 5th isn't gonna be enough to put us in the CL next season, even if we win it this season!

...and all those quiet fans just sitting peacefully in the background. ;^O

Let me guess, Robbie must have run quite a way to make sure that his opinions was heard... I'm with you, he isn't one of my idols! You caught this piece of action well, with all the pointing going on
