I was ably assisted for this shot by DM who was on stage left going ‘three, two, one, blow’ as I clicked my shutter.
Each spring there are always quite a few dandelion clocks make their way onto PotD galleries. I hope I have achieved something a bit different with mine – taking it out of its natural setting and seeing it ‘in action’.
The clock has been ticking by today while I’ve been out in the garden planting up the greenhouse (tomatoes and chillis this year) and one of my veggie beds with beans (thanks Erica) and peas. So now we have these new ‘recruits’ joining the spinach, broad beans, asparagus and potatoes that are already in the ground. Yum.
My time for gardening is very limited so I am never surprised to find there are more weeds than veggies in the beds and this year is no exception….even though I cleared the whole plot and weeded about six weeks or so ago. Stuff just grows so fast at this time of year.
So, this is a celebration of the tenacity of weeds (and of course the ones all over our studio now WON’T be making it to germinate – hurrah!!!) and a comment on the real state of my garden despite me always showing its glamorous side in my monthly garden galleries. You see now why I love macro shots in the garden? It’s because just next to that beautiful azalea or blossom is some bindweed, goosegrass or a dandelion!
Erica wanted us to cheer on Cornwall who are playing rugby today against local rivals from across the Tamar, Devon. Rah rah to Cornwall – I hope they won the game….strangely I can find no reference to it on the Beeb’s website so I’ve no idea if they did.
The clock also ticks for the last game of the season for Spurs tomorrow – can we pull off a minor miracle and grab that last European slot? Who knows….. Whatever happens, we’ll be there next season, our season tickets are now purchased. I have a feeling in my water that we might do rather well next season – for this year, I said at the start of the season I’d be happy with a top half finish and we’ve certainly achieved that – Aston Villa who are tenth can’t catch us so ninth is the lowest we will finish. Cool.
Two years ago I was getting jealous and last year I did the first of my two (so far, I have an idea for another but I can't achieve it until the decorating is done in Cornwall) Jack Vettriano tributes.....the other is here.
