All of the swans in the UK are 'owned' by the Queen. It's one of those peculiar laws that still exist here. If you harm a swan you can be prosecuted. One of our most famous politicians (Roy Hattersley) was prosecuted recently because his dog killed a swan.

This swan is, I believe, a native of Australia because he is black not white. I don't know where I heard that so it may be garbage!!!
