On every level the Butterfly Lion is done and dusted. We’ve picked it apart, put it back together, analysed meaning and designed spin-off things. Some people say that it takes the heart out of a book, dissecting it as we do and I have some sympathy for that point of view. Some might also reflect on the book’s rather traumatic subject matter and its suitability for year 3 children. There is also the small fact (spoiler alert) that all of the main characters pop their clogs before the climax of the book. My children found that deeply distressing.
We finished the display a week ago and now it’s all got to come down to make way for “Flat Stanley”. Ah well, it was nice while it lasted.
