We are simultaneously wildly, tremendously excited and at the same time utterly, rationally terrified.
In all of the years that we’ve owned houses, we have never undertaken a project where we’re raising a building out of the ground. It’s something that we designed, with the help of a rather lovely architect and it will be purpose built to meet our needs. Wow.

I know a shot of some foundations and concrete blocks may not be the most exciting thing most people have never seen but for us, it represents both a new era and a great step forward. We’ve been building up to this for more than two years. We’ve drawn up ideas, changed them over and over again. We got someone in to make those ideas live and breathe. We haggled with bureaucrats and builders then waited for what seemed like forever.

Now they’re here and in just one week have dug out the trench, laid the concrete and now are building up our future world.

It’s not a totally new build, it’s taking something tired and a bit dilapidated and making it a modern home. It’s going to be dirty, noisy and messy for the foreseeable future but hopefully by the end of the year, it’ll be done. Wow again.
