This plane is bad. Well, at least, the person who placed the plane, cutting edge down on the workmate is bad. DM ticked me off for doing it but I think this is how I found it.
I’ve been a rubbish grunt today but that’s partly because DM has been engaged in fiddly difficult stuff all day. I’ve cut about a dozen boards I reckon. So as not to be considered a lightweight, I have instead: mown three of our five lawns; repaired a hole in our fence by cutting down two wooden pallets and hanging them from a wooden frame inside the concrete uprights that used to hold a feather-edge panel before it got trashed by a mix of wind and hostile neighbours; added trellis (using my SDS drill – what a beast that is) to make it look a bit less industrial but overall the job is very environmentally friendly; unblocked a drain that has been full of builders’ rubble; washed, dried and put away a load of washing; made a loaf of bread; went to Trago to buy tools; did a whole load of weed eradication (hopefully) and kicked a gazillion tennis balls for the dogs.
So, this plane may not be strictly relevant to my own day but I’ve been no slouch and DM has had another day of great progress on the big project. All-in-all we’ve had an extremely productive weekend. Good job really as next weekend will be a write-off in DIY terms.
