My last words yesterday were that I am a book fiend. This is my pile of books that are waiting to go to the charity shop. It’s a strange mixed bag of children’s fiction, Scandinavian fiction and textbooks. The former were being gobbled up by me with some gusto I might add, when I was trying to become a teacher. I was completely bowled over by how much I enjoyed the books I read to bring myself up to speed on the stuff being read by my littlies.

The middle – well, what can I say, I am transfixed by Scandinavian fiction at the moment and in this pile alone there are three Swedish authors (OK – two are co-authors of a single book) and a Norwegian. There is a bit of me that thinks there is little finer, especially in the realms of crime fiction. We saw a Norwegian film with English subtitles of a Jo Nesbo book on TV a couple of weeks ago and it was superb. (The Headhunters for anyone interested.)

Finally – the textbooks, despite coming out of my teacher training with a mix of outstanding (top level) and good (next best level), I was destined to never have a class of my own, hence making the first category completely pointless in terms of utility so it’s a really good job I loved them so much or I’d have been furious.

It's interesting, DM stole my 100ml macro lens that's more or less permanently fixed to my camera and replaced it with the wide angle L series zoom that I rarely ever use and I assume had been on his 5d body. I've used it the last two days running because I've been too lazy to find an alternative and have loved the shots I've got even though they are, in truth, rather mundane. For those who are equipment geeks, the Vivitar Series 1 lens on the next shelf down is the lens that I was using when Clazuk was impressed by my equipment, gave me her address and phone number, started a life-long friendship and introduced me to DM. How fab is that?
