The runway at Malaga airport with a hill in the background – the glorious sunshine belies the fact that it’s about 4⁰C and has been as low as 0⁰C overnight. It’s a good job the Fiat 500 was stored in a garage overnight or we might have had to scrape ice off its window when we left the hotel at 4.45am (UK time) to set out to drive the 120k to Malaga airport for our flight home.

I must confess to being rather stressed as we hurtled along the motorway in the pitch dark without a clue about how to get to our destination. Later, after our safe arrival, in a moment of rarely displayed candour, DM confessed that he too was petrified and would happily have abandoned the car on the motorway if he could have got away with it.

So, our Andalusian adventure is coming to an end and we are homeward bound.
