...celebrity chefs. I disagree.
OK, I’m about to have a whinge. Marco Pierre White – honestly? Does anyone really think he uses Knorr stock pots himself? It’s interesting that he defends himself thus…”it allows me to stand onto a bigger stage and enrich people's lives” – well, he doesn’t enrich mine, I just see him for what he really is (and of course he knows deep down exactly what that is).
It’s a bit like Gary Rhodes using Flora Buttery…and then spouting “statistics” about the product that were so unsound that the ad ended up being withdrawn because it was so dishonest. I’m sure he’s no statistician and equally certain that he was told to say the lines by the person giving him the big fat cheque, but it doesn’t take a great mathematical brain to have worked out that the numbers being quoted were so shabby and grubby that the whole thing would implode. I was moved to write to advertising standards about that one – and I wasn’t the only one.
Anyway, rant over – thanks to DM for the inspired title – he just sat here half an hour ago and came out with it.
