We went to the pub for dinner tonight to celebrate finishing work for the best part of a fortnight…but I ended up nursing my pint and feeling blue because of “secret santa” – I had picked out a lad from our warehouse and as luck would have it I’d worked with him for a day and knew he was heavily into the dance scene. I thought long and hard, decided that dancing was to be encouraged and hit on the idea of buying him a classic, limited edition dance remix CD that I think most people would consider to be the start of the modern dance scene. I felt certain he’d love it because I knew he loved a real wide and eclectic range of music. When he unwrapped it it was clear it was a big mistake. He just didn’t get it at all. I thought he’d be made up that someone had thought so hard about what to buy rather than just buying the nearest bottle of booze but that couldn’t have been further from the truth. I ended up feeling mean and miserable despite my best intentions. It just goes to show that it’s a mistake to think you know someone based on a single day.
