...photograph supper!

Because I’m not encumbered by planning any more I have been able to knock off a load of household jobs. I’ve made up the beds in both of our spare rooms in anticipation of our guests arriving early next week, (as you already know) made a load of paving slabs, done a load of paperwork, including sorting out bills etc, cleaned, tidied and generally made stuff better.

Today’s jobs when I got home were making up our nice guest bedroom for the impending arrival of someone we’ve never met before (an Italian friend of Colin’s) and taking receipt of a delivery from Sainsbury’s and putting it all away.

Of course these sorts of jobs make normal stuff like cooking dinner both a chore and a time drain so I had the forethought to make up a crockpot of split pea and vegetable curry last night, which DM put on at lunchtime. When I got in all that was needed was the yogurt (in tonight’s delivery from Sainsbury’s) then DM put the ingredients into the bread machine for naan bread and all I had to do was ladle out the curry into some bowls, add yogurt, roll out and grill the naan bread and serve. Honestly? You may not call it convenience food but it’s delicious, almost fat free and completely home-made. Not only that but the crockpot holds enough for two dinners so I can pop it into the fridge and reheat it in a couple of days’ time and we have another “free” meal – by free I mean I didn’t have to cook it.

Basically what this all means is I’m not apologising for photographing supper because I’d been working hard and it was, after all, home-made grub!

PS for anyone who’s not tried making naan bread, it’s an easy “dough” recipe in the bread machine and the result is completely gorgeous.
