In the eight and a half years we’ve lived here, this wisteria has only ever bloomed once before. At the moment, it’s covered in embryonic flowers with just a few starting to pop open. By the weekend, when our succession of guests arrive, I’m hoping it’ll be shouting out with glee. It’s a cantankerous thing that is very mean with its display so for it to decide to go now, just when we’ve got the busiest few days that we’ve had probably since we got married, is perfect timing and most unexpected. I’m anticipating a riot of colour and heady scent so our friends are met with something of beauty.
Tonight the beds are made up and all (!) I need to do now is clean the bathrooms and living accommodation and we’re ready. Phew. Roll on the weekend and seeing some of the people we love. I can’t wait.
