Anyone who knows me well will know that I can wax lyrical about how wonderful chickens are and what good pets they make for ooohhhh hours on end. You’ve met most of the hens in our world over the years if you’ve been hanging out on pbase with me since the beginning of time. Two of ours are young and lay eggs most days apart from their laying holiday from about mid-October through to the beginning of January. The other two are oldies who rarely lay these days, although both have been enjoying a bit of a spring filip! Today, I went out to collect eggs to find not just two blue ones, which would be great in itself, but a brown speckled-y one and white one too.
That means all four chooks have been hard at work making their eggs and laying them while I’ve been hard at work on my laptop trying to knock this essay into shape. You’ll be pleased to know I’ve managed to knock four thousand words off my word count today although that means I still have to lose another four thousand tomorrow. Then I’ve got to polish it and there is only one more day left. I have spent such a lot of time on this thing and it’s still basically rubbish.
At the end of tomorrow, by hook or by crook I must have this finished because I have another assessment on my agenda on Monday and I have to prepare for that too. That one? Well, it’s probably the most pointless one yet – a fifteen minute discussion on an academic paper about IT in schools, covering it and demonstrating that we’ve read other papers in the field too. I expect I’ll be cramming that at 6am Monday morning before going into the assessment.
