I have started the next leg of my bid to get a job today by applying for my first teaching post. It seems like sheer madness given that I still regard myself as the rawest of recruits and the greenest of green sprog-ette teachers but this is the time that the jobs for September start to be advertised so regardless of the aforementioned I must apply and tough it out with the best of them.
It may be very early in the day for me but it must count for something that I’ve been so appreciated by the children I teach that the above bracelet was given to me by a child who was in my care over the last six weeks. She was a really lovely child and she cried as though she was bereaved when I left. My enthusiastic and hopefully interesting teaching methods clearly struck a chord with her and that must count for something…mustn’t it?
Wish me luck. I’m going to need it – I’m going to be up against people more experienced, more youthful and probably far more talented so I need the force of some goodwill behind me.
