As anyone who knows me in “real life” will testify, I am a person with no musical ability whatsoever. I can’t hold a note or play any instrument at all. DMs verdict is that I’m er, well, more than a bit crap!

This weekend though, I’m surrounded by musicians and last night all three of them were strumming out tunes on ukuleles. We’d bought one for DMs Mum for Christmas a few years back and DM owns several, one of which he bought for me but we need to acknowledge that I will never be able to play a tune on it so we may as well admit defeat and call it his. They are my very own private ukulele orchestra.

DM was showing his Mum some tips because she’s just joined a U3A ukulele society and is expected to be able to play several numbers by September when they are planning a show. She’s been practicing scales today and her uke was on the coffee table. Its frets were glinting in the sunshine and I saw today’s shot. There may or may not be a repetition of last night’s jamming session later tonight!
