In another world this was the epitome of chic. In another world it was considered a thing of great beauty.
Let me tell you this for free…IT STILL IS!
I bought this lamp in 1986 in Oxford in an antique shop. It had suffered at the hands of an ignoramus who’d butchered the electrics by rewiring badly. I still loved it. I paid £30 for it and have never resented a single penny of that outlay even though it has languished under-utilised by me ever since. \I always knew it’d come into its own one day.
DM took up the cudgel recently and rewired it in stupendous fashion – he says it’s because he’s “ on the spectrum” (at some level autistic). It’s done in authentic-looking but modern style fabric coated cable and it is now on pride of place in our lounge (largely because a fairy came and stole all our occasional lights while we were looking! (Yes, I did say were not were not.)
So, here it is in its new-found glory or rediscovered glory or whatever you want to call it. It's in another world.
