I’ve had a break from work today for the first time in yonks so I spent the day looking for errant marbles. I looked in all of the dark places in our home – the dusty corners, the backs of cupboards, the bottom of the laundry basket, behind the cooker and the back of the fridge. If it was dark and scary, I looked there. No, it’s true, really, the back of my fridge is (actually was as I’ve cleaned it out while looking for my marbles) extremely scary.

While I pride myself on not wasting food, even I found a yogurt pot that had half-an-inch of what was once yogurt and is now blue mould! Still, it was the only thing I threw away from the fridge so it shows how frugal I am. It’s been almost exactly a year since I last did this job. I remember because I phoned my Mum in tears because it was the most exciting thing I could find to do in a summer of dreary misery while it rained and rained and rained some more.

Anyway, in the darkest recesses of my world, I found some of my missing marbles and recaptured them in a modified bear trap! You may, at this juncture be thinking “she says she’s found some of her marbles but if that’s the case she’s clearly lost more of them than she thought” and you’d be right to make such a supposition. You have to forgive my stir-craziness – I get my final results this week. Yikes!
