We’ve been out looking for evening colour recently – DM and I went together a few days ago and subsequently he’s been out on his own, camera at the ready.
The sky has refused steadfastly to play ball and the colours have gone from day through grey to night rather than through pink, gold, orange, purple.
So, tonight, when I looked out of the window and saw this, I decided that it would be a good capture given the elusive nature of such shots. This is literally shot from our back garden fence.
Why is it that when you try really hard to achieve something then you rarely make it yet when you’re not even looking for it, it can jump out of the darkness and bite you? Or is that just me who experiences such things?
I’m trying to make a “good garden” before we get married so I’ve toiled all day only a few yards from this spot trying to make that happen. I’ve weeded and planted a flowerbed that’s so far eluded me in as much as this is the third year I’ve been trying to get this patch of ground to look great and so far, I’ve failed pretty miserably.
My joint nemesis’ of rabbits, appalling weather over the last couple of years and chickens making free with the ground and so far it’s been an unmitigated disaster. Now, it HAS to come right before the summer so I’ve hit on an idea to make it less accessible to my four legged friends and my two legged ones too.
So, after shooting this pic I decided to have a quick tour of the day’s work and an amble around the rest of the garden and I discovered newts in my new pond, not to mention the satisfaction of a day’s work done well.
Yep, it’s a golden sunset today after all.
