Dunrobin Castle is located on the east coast of the Northern Higlands of Scotland, overlooking the Moray Firth. The great house/castle has 189 room and is one of Britain's oldest continuously lived-in houses dating back to the early 1300's when it was home to first the Earls and later the Dukes of Sutherland. The Castle reflects a French chateau with it's towering conical spires. It's architecture influenced by Sir Charles Barry, who designed London's Houses of Parliament and by Scotland's Sir Robert Lorimer.

The Castle Gardens were laid out in 1850 by Sir Charles Barry and reflect inspiration from the grounds and gardens of the Palace of Versailles in Paris. These beautiful gardens have apparently changed very little in 150 years.
