look at me... now

Welcome to my new travel gallery! A collection of works that are greatly inspired by many of you.
Yes, look at me now… I’ve grown so much as a photographer,
taking every step to see things better and learn new technique, new style, and even new words.
And I truly owe my growth to your tremendous support, sincere feedback and valuable sharing.
Without you all, I’m still nobody. So I thank you once again.
And my special thanks to Ros for getting me started on pbase, giving me such a wonderful unforgettable experience.
So to Ros, this shot is for you... in our dear Guenter’s style :-)

This is beautiful!
The womans face on the advert dominates ... like she is waiting for someone to stop and notice ...
Guest 06-Aug-2006 13:28
Love this one, the background girls looks so real. And the whole picture carries a very modern style. V

I am with Kal here, very intriguing image....

A powerful street shot that stops your viewers in their tracks -- the ad is designed to grab the eye of passersby, and you make the ad even more compelling by isolating the face, removing all the text from the poster, and incongruously relating her compelling, almost numb expression to the blurred figures in the foreground. One of them is oblivious, the other seems struck dumb. Using an advertisement for a backdrop to a photo is not novel, but you use it so well here that the image itself becomes freshly compelling and thought provoking. The key to expressive travel photography is to make the ordinary extraordinary through incongruity and abstraction, and express human values in the process. You do that here, AL, and do it well.

A good capture!!

Wow!!
Lisa22-Jun-2006 00:07
Those eyes...
Great catch. I love the blur of the men. It's as though she's drawing us in with her eyes, seducing us. Slow down. Take a breath. Take in the beauty.
Fong Lam20-Jun-2006 16:38
A brilliant shot, Al. Rght timing for the motion blur.
Kal Khogali20-Jun-2006 15:53
I love this image for it's simple power of the eyes. The focus and blur could not be more perfect. I feel like I am being asked a question...K

Thank you, my dear. It is a pleasure to see you blossom as a photographer. There is an undeniable creative streak in you which I have always seen, and the only next step is to find the right medium. So fly away, my friend. :)
Guest 13-Jun-2006 06:23

Guest 12-Jun-2006 20:22
it is all in the moment...good timing and perhaps a lot of patience...
Ray Rebortira12-Jun-2006 19:19
This is stunning, to say the least, a masterful composition replete with references both contemporary and classical. Yes, Guenter's style is very obvious and so delightful. But the central image has the eyes of Bronzino's young man and your decision to include her face, at once challenging and diffident, is a stroke of genius. Bravo!!!
Kathy Pedersen12-Jun-2006 19:11
WOW, this is amazing in every way! Fantastic blur, and the look on the face is so captivating!!!! Huge Vote
Guest 12-Jun-2006 18:38

Fantastic shot. Vote.
Guest 12-Jun-2006 17:49
This is really wonderful, I love the use of three in this image, really powerful. The movement of the men in contrast to the still, searching look of the woman in the ad is really wonderful.
Guenter Eh12-Jun-2006 17:14
It`s needless to say, this shot opens my heart and mind AL! Three faces - all looking in another direction - the are so tight together and separate though! Looking at your works I`d learned to take more risk and power in post processing of my images. This is only one aspect. I could at a lot of others! The learning from each other is in fact a great deal with pbase and we can get indeed unforgetable experiences with it - as you stated! And your exciting shot is "AL-style - with your personal note! It`s a joy for me to vote! :o)
Guest 12-Jun-2006 14:52
Fantastic catch! The two men are just perfect in front of this great ad-portrait. V.
(I love too your words... You're right, PBase is the best school: like you I learn at each photo I took or I look at. And thanks for your work, which is a great inspiration for me. Respect!;)
jude12-Jun-2006 14:46
Superb shot.. she seems to be the only one aware.. and she's not really. I can imagine you posting yourself in front of the ad, just waiting for someone to walk by.
These shots make me miss the city.. :S
Rob Rosetti12-Jun-2006 14:46
Very cool shot, love the motion blur and the big face in the background! It seems she's asking for attention.. V Roberto
