032 RED ADMIRAL BUTTERFLY

MACHIAS SEAL ISLAND, NEW BRUNSWICK, CANADA

With the exception of the annual migration of Monarchs, butterflies are relatively scarce on the island. Red Admirals, Painted Ladys, Cabbage Whites and Sulpurs are the species seen on a regular, annual basis.
This individual shows a lot of scale loss and damage on both wings, typical of the wear & tear suffered on the trip to the island.
