The Skelligs are two steep, rocky, uninhabited islands - both are nature reserves and are located about 10 miles (16 Km) off the coast of Co. Kerry.
Skellig Michael is a UNESCO World Heritage site (since 1996).
It has a well preserved monastic complex built around 600 AD, where the monks lived in stone 'beehive' huts perched above cliffs.
Little Skellig, the smaller of the two islands, is the largest northern gannet colony in Ireland and the second largest in the world.
The Skelligs have been in the news a lot recently because Skellig Michael was used as the set for the Star Wars Movie - the Force Awakens.
