The Southern or Common Reedbuck (Redunca arundinum) is found in southern Africa. They have body-length: 1.2-1.6 m; shoulder-height: .65-1.05 m and weight: 40-95 Kg. They have grey-brown coats with a white underbelly and black forelegs. Males have ridged horns of around 0.35 m, which grow backwards and then curve forwards. They live in valley and upland areas, where they eat grasses and reeds. Old males are territorial, living with a single female, which they follow at all times to prevent it having contact with rival males. Females and young males are usually solitary, except in the dry season, when they sometimes form herds of up to twenty individuals. They are diurnal, but inactive during the heat of the day. The vigilant female in the photos was seen near Notten's Bush Camp, Kruger. Reference: http://www.ultimateungulate.com/Artiodactyla/Redunca_arundinum.html
