HAGAR ROUBEV ROOM
Perspective Café - by Sofie Verscheure, Inis Gallant and Mips Meyntjens
PURPOSE: to open new perspectives, to set concrete little steps and big steps AND to engage us for those steps
METHODE: Perspective Café
We formulate three strong challenges. Around those challenges we work for 30’ in little groups of maximum 10 around a table, afterwards we move to a new table, new women, new theme.
Course conversation: 3’ to think and to note ; 20’ conversation ; 7’ conclusiontime : note in 3 sentences …
CHALLENGE 2:
The classical ‘institutionalized’ peacework is especially founded on male language and male methodes. WIB needs a new language and much more new forms of action which leads the peacework from the connection between spirit, heart and belly.
Conclusion question: Give three ideas for new action forms starting from that new ‘female’ language.
RESULTS of the round tables:
1. Give preference to non-verbale artistique communication
2. Don’t confuse confrontation and conflicts
3. Keep our autonomy without hierarchy and with diversity
4. A new language based on experience and knowledge. Not only academic but people engaged in activities, and anarchist artists: people adding their own values, we must have a feminist ethic.
5. Coherence between the world we want, we wish and a world to build.
6. Try to change the way the general media give the news. Every day we try not to use a sexist language, and put focus on pain, experiences, positive response of women.
7. Use the corporal language more direct : theater, street actions who speak of true stories
8. Use of music, dance, colors and silence.
9. Make a feminist lexicon transforming male terminology
10. Develop artivism – example the Armenian WIB flash mob
11. Joining other feministic and alternative movements (with our banner)
12. DARE PEACE (= slogan from women in Marseille)
13. Each action has its own context – cultural and political - and that defines protest strategies including language.
14. Actions speak louder than words
15. Take over a cafee to make a peace café(café itinerant)
16. Art, creativity and dancing
17. Feminist social TV posting activity’s on social media (internet)
18. Practice feminist ethics of responsibility and care (demand justice from government, defend minorities, …)
19. Different artistic and interactive actions : flash mobs, forum theatres, street performances, remembrance actions
20. Retrieve values and symbols that were taken away
21. WIB already challenging – we do not need new language but new means to express challenges to patriarchal language
22. Embrace or accept contradictions in WIB, Silence/music ; Black/color ; Static/movement
23. Identity in social context. Common symbolism vs. particular cultural expression
24. To spread our ideas through social network facebook, twitter,
25. Use artistic forms, maybe ask for help, collaboration from specialized people
26. Organize the resistance from the indignation (spirit – hart – belly)
27. WIB has already developed a new language and has been developing new forms since its beginning. There is a need for further development of new forms.
28. Using the traditional forms, festivities, religious procession, and subverting into other content related to WIB issues for. ex. Madonna of precariat, cunt procession )
29. Use singing / dancing in actions challenging military (ex. in military spaces) good example action for Sevilla “Dancing on dictators tomb”
30. Use internet to put information on WIB actions, to publish short videos on WIB activities
31. Invite people to talk to them on public places and to bring food.
